Accessibility Statement for Preston Capes Parish Council

This website is run by Preston Capes Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
  • find information contained in difficult to navigate tables within a text block or other accessible format on the same page

We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We appreciate that some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • some of our online forms are difficult to navigate using just a keyboard
  • you cannot skip to the main content block when using a screen reader

What to do if you cannot access parts of this website

If you need information on this website in a different format such as accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille, please contact:

The Parish Clerk on Telephone: 01327 264002 Email: clerk@preston-capes.org.uk

We'll consider your request and get back to you in 10 working days. If you cannot view the map on our 'contact us' page, call or email us for directions

Reporting accessibility problems with this website

We're always looking to improve the accessibility of this website.n If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we're not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact:

The Parish Clerk on Telephone: 01327 264002 Email: clerk@preston-capes.org.uk giving the page title and the nature of the problem.

Our Agendas, Minutes and Reports are exported in an archive format PDF/A-1a (ISO 19005-1) with tags and document structure information. This should assist you in finding what you need. A few PDF documents, particularly those with scanned signatures required by council regulation, do not have a useful structure that can be easily navigated.

If you experience a problem with accessibility with any of these documents, please let us know so that we can follow this up.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the 'accessibility regulations'). If you're not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Moreton Pinkney Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

a) Navigation and accessing information

There is no mechanism to skip the repeated content in the page header (for example, a 'skip to main content' option), using blocking. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.1 (bypass blocks).

It is not always possible to change the device orientation from horizontal to vertical without making it more difficult to view the content. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.4 (orientation).

b) Interactive tools and transactions

Some of our interactive forms may be difficult to navigate using a keyboard. For example, because some form controls are missing a 'label' tag. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 (information and relationships).

c) Links to external resources

The A-Z of Services links to sites outside of the control of Preston Capes Parish Council.

How we tested this website

This website was last tested in January 2021. The test was carried out by ourselves using a Chromium Browser extension called Accessibility Insights We used this approach to decide on a sample of pages to test with static content, links and pictures, focusing upon the Home Page and Council documents pages at www.preston-capes.org.uk
